Numerous Siderite crystals have developed together in radiating and overlapping formations, creating remarkable rounded rosettes with textured, almost petal-like surfaces.

A custom wooden stand was created specifically for the specimen, positioning the Quartz vertically so the progression of Siderite growth can be appreciated across its full height. Carved bamboo incorporated into the stand adds traditional symbolism of resilience, perseverance and continual advancement — moving forward step by step.

Metaphysically, Siderite is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and direction, while Quartz is connected with clarity, amplification and intention. Mineral formation and presentation come together beautifully in a specimen with tremendous structure, contrast and character. 🖤✨

⚖️ Weight: 546gms - specimen & stand

📏 Size: 22.5cm H x 10.5cm L x 6.2cm W - specimen in stand

🌎 Source: Inner Mongolia, China

🔮 Quartz: The Soul's Amplifier

💜 🤍 Crown Chakra, All Chakras

The first thing that captures your attention with this specimen is undoubtedly the extraordinary Black Siderite. Large, dark rosettes emerge dramatically across the pale Quartz, accompanied by numerous smaller formations that seem to travel along the crystal from top to bottom.

These rosettes are created through the development of numerous Siderite crystals growing together in radiating and overlapping arrangements. Rather than forming as one simple crystal, repeated growth produces rounded, flower-like aggregates with beautifully textured surfaces. In the larger formations, the individual crystal growth can still be seen sweeping outward through the rosette, creating an almost layered, petal-like appearance.

The contrast is exceptional. Pale, elongated Quartz provides the structure of the specimen while the dark Siderite appears across its surface in everything from small scattered growths to substantial rounded rosettes. Under direct light, the Siderite reveals a subtle metallic to silky lustre and considerably more texture than its almost-black appearance initially suggests.

This specimen comes from Dongwuqi, also known as East Ujimqin Banner, in Inner Mongolia, China, an area that has produced some fascinating mineral associations. Siderite is an iron carbonate mineral, and while it can occur in several crystal habits and colours, these dark radiating rosette formations are particularly distinctive and give the specimen its strong sculptural character.

What we particularly love is that this piece has not been forced into a conventional display position.

We had a custom wooden stand created specifically around the specimen, allowing the Quartz to rise vertically so the succession of Siderite rosettes can be appreciated across its full height. The stand itself incorporates carved bamboo, adding another layer of symbolism to the piece.

Within Chinese culture, bamboo carries strong associations with resilience, growth and perseverance. Its segmented structure has also inspired the expression “step by step higher”, representing continual progress and advancement, moving forward one stage at a time. That symbolism feels especially appropriate beneath a specimen whose mineral growth naturally travels upward along the Quartz.

Metaphysically, Siderite is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and understanding your own direction, while Quartz is connected with clarity, amplification and intention. Together with the symbolism of bamboo, this piece carries a beautiful underlying message of remaining grounded while continuing to grow.

Mineralogically fascinating and visually quite unlike a traditional Quartz specimen, this is a piece where the natural formation and the presentation have been considered together. From the smallest scattered Siderite growths to those remarkable large black rosettes, the custom bamboo stand allows the entire structure to be seen exactly as we felt it deserved to be. 🖤✨

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0566/0871/9000/files/BlackSideriteRosettesOnQuartzDongwuqi_InnerMongolia1.jpg?v=1787901538
