Sections of greater translucency can become particularly striking when viewed in natural light, revealing additional depth within the Agate.

This hand carved Hubei Agate teapot features a rounded body with detailed floral elements, a high sweeping handle and carefully formed spout. A separately carved removable lid displays contrasting orange, red and brown tones, adding another element of traditional stone craftsmanship to the piece. Teapots have a long association with Chinese tea culture and the traditions of hospitality, friendship and contemplation. Its unusual form, natural colour variation and intricate workmanship make this a distinctive piece for collectors of Hubei Agate, Chinese stone carvings and decorative teapots. 🫖✨

⚖️ Weight: 44gms

📏 Size: 2.4cm x 4cm x 4.7cm

🌎 Source: Hubei, China

🔮 Agate: The Tapestry Stone of Universal Harmony

🤍 All Chakras

This is another of the Hubei Agate teapots that completely changed our minds about whether we were, in fact, crystal teapot people. 🤣

Hand carved from Hubei Agate, this piece has an incredible natural palette of golden yellow, olive green, burnt orange, deep brown and near-black. Rather than trying to make the stone uniform, the carver has worked with its natural colour changes, allowing them to move through the body of the teapot and become part of the overall design.

The teapot itself is beautifully detailed. Its rounded body is surrounded by carved floral elements, with the handle sweeping high over the top and the spout incorporated into the form. One of my favourite areas is the rich orange band that travels across the upper body beneath the handle. In sunlight, the more translucent sections absolutely come alive.

And then there is the lid.

The removable lid has been carved separately from a contrasting section of Agate, with warm orange, red and earthy brown colouring. It fits neatly into the circular opening at the top, turning what is already an intricate carving into a genuinely special little piece of stonework.

Hubei Agate is known for its wonderful natural variation, with combinations of earthy greens, yellows, reds, browns, creams and darker mineral-rich areas occurring within the material. In a carving like this, those variations are part of what makes the piece so interesting. Turn it around and the stone changes completely.

The teapot also carries a long cultural association within China. Tea and teaware are connected with hospitality, friendship, contemplation and the simple ritual of taking time to sit together. For us, however, this piece was ultimately about the carving. We kept picking these teapots up, putting them down, questioning ourselves and then picking them up again. Eventually we stopped trying to rationalise why two women who barely drink tea needed crystal teapots. 😂

Sometimes, when you collect beautiful things, the answer is simply because something is beautifully made.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0566/0871/9000/files/HubeiAgateTeapotCarvingTeaAndTradition1.jpg?v=1790919021
