Purple Haze embodies the balance between Earth’s history and ethereal transformation and a fossil that has crossed millions of years to reveal a quiet shimmer of opal light.

Ammonites are the ancient ancestors of modern squid and octopus, intelligent ocean dwellers that once glided through prehistoric seas, wrapped in elegant spiral shells. This piece, discovered in Madagascar, dates back roughly 120 million years to the Cretaceous Period when vast oceans covered the land and evolution was still composing its earliest symphonies.

When these creatures died, their shells sank gently to the seabed. Over time, the ocean worked its quiet alchemy and water dissolved the original shell, and minerals like calcite and phosphate flowed in, crystallising within each spiral chamber. What began as organic life became art: a fossil turned into shimmering geometry, now polished on one side and displaying violet opalisation on the other nature’s reminder that transformation creates beauty.

Each curve of the ammonite follows the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio in motion, the same pattern found in galaxies, hurricanes, and sunflowers. It’s the architecture of harmony, the blueprint of perfection that links all creation.

🌀 Fossils

Fossils are life forms of either plants or animals that have been captured within an impression and preserved usually within the sedimentary rocks. Another type of fossil is resin fossilization where insects and plants are embedded within amber.

Most fossils are just casings or cavities of what was, and the soft parts of the animals and plants are rarely preserved due to certain salts and minerals breaking down the organic matter within.

Now another type of fossil can be completely replaced by an imprint or impression of the original shell, animal or plant within sedimentary rock or hard rock such as petrified wood.

Lastly a process called mineralization, is where an entire cavity can be completely replaced meaning if it was a shell, it would have completely dissolved. Through this process certain acids and solutions penetrate the cavity and form a new matrix within the cavity creating a 3D version of the shell itself.
