Some creations begin as whispers, a feeling, a moment, a spark of knowing. Desert Vision was one of those whispers that turned into something more, sparked under the endless skies of Tucson, Arizona, during the gem shows Niome and I visited earlier this year.
You may know me, Amy, as the one behind the Meditation Malas and custom-sized bracelets we offer, guided by intention and energy. But every so often, something stirs in me — a nudge to create something beyond routine, something that feels destined. That feeling returned in the dry warmth of the desert air, standing before a table of turquoise that made my heart quietly leap.
As soon as I saw these particular turquoise beads, I didn’t question it, I just knew they were meant to become a necklace. Over the course of our days wandering through gem shows, I gathered small treasures: each bead, each stone, each accent, subtly creating itself into a vision I hadn’t yet sketched but already understood.
The red shell pieces became essential. Traditionally used by the Navajo, a culture I’ve always felt deeply connected to, they brought a grounding, ancestral energy to the piece. I combined them with a signature of my own using a double-terminated Quartz crystal pendant we found on one of our last days in Tucson. I believe these crystals choose us just as much as we choose them.
As always, the numbers found me — in threes, sixes, and twelves — echoing the sacred geometry I intuitively work with in all my creations. To me, this patterning activates the intention, the deeper vibration embedded within each handmade piece.
And so, from the dust and spirit of the desert, Desert Vision was born a necklace not just of stone, but of story.
