This wonderfully characterful cat has been carved from natural Ocean Jasper and captured sitting peacefully in a yoga pose, combining the independent spirit of the cat with the balance, mindfulness and rather impressive flexibility associated with yoga.

The carving itself is full of personality. Sitting upright in quiet contemplation, our feline yogi represents taking a moment away from the noise, finding your centre and remembering that sometimes the most productive thing you can do is simply sit still for five minutes. Cats, naturally, mastered this centuries before the rest of us.

Ocean Jasper is a variety of chalcedony best known for its extraordinary combinations of orbicular patterning, flowing bands, mineral inclusions and contrasting areas of colour. The material originates from Madagascar, with different deposits producing considerable variation in appearance.

Those natural patterns work beautifully within a carving such as this. Areas of colour, markings and mineral detail travel naturally through the body of the cat, meaning every Yoga Cat develops its own expression and character according to the section of Ocean Jasper chosen by the carver.
