🔍 Under The Microscope

Glauberite is a sulfate mineral that primarily consists of sodium calcium sulfate (Na2Ca(SO4)2). It is commonly found in evaporite deposits, where it forms in arid environments with high rates of evaporation, such as salt flats and saline lakes. Glauberite crystals typically exhibit a monoclinic crystal system, and their structure often appears as tabular or blocky forms. The crystals are usually colorless, white, or gray, with a vitreous to dull luster, and they may be transparent to translucent.

Australian Glauberite can be sensitive to moisture, making it relatively unstable in humid conditions. This property is due to its composition, which allows it to dissolve easily in water, altering its form over time. As a result, Glauberite specimens are often kept in controlled environments to prevent degradation. The mineral has a Mohs hardness of about 2.5 to 3, making it relatively soft compared to other crystals. Its specific gravity is around 2.7 to 2.8, and it has perfect cleavage in one direction, which can result in easy splitting along certain planes. Glauberite's solubility in water also makes it a mineral of interest in studies of geochemistry and sedimentary processes in evaporitic environments.

🪨 Specimens 

The word Specimens gets thrown around a bit, but what does it truly mean??

It simply means a crystal that is represented in its truest and most natural form. Many crystals as you would know are shaped into spheres, palm stones etc to be able to use them for healing purposes.

Then you also have carvings for aesthetic purposes in and around the home. All of these have their individual purposes for their owners and what you are wanting to achieve, when either using them energetically, or for home décor.

Specimens can to a degree also be used for healing purposes but fall mostly into the category of home décor, and what I also find amazing is their heightened energy from my own perspective.

There is less handling through human shaping and polishing, and therefore they hold a different vibration to those that have been shaped.

Not to say there aren’t some super powerful pieces out there that aren’t specimens, I have been on many journeys with wands, eggs, and the likes. So many in fact.

The other amazing thing about specimens is that you can see the structure of the crystal, how its formed to a degree, and understand other crystals that have jumped on the journey with them. How different crystals can work in unison for many reasons including healing, after all nothing is a coincidence.

Final note, I love crystals in all forms for all reasons and when it comes to specimens, I believe they can add so much value to your home's energy, your energy and look amazing when showcased in the right space.
