There is something incredibly satisfying about opening a geode and discovering an entire crystal world hidden inside, and this Brazilian Agate geode takes that experience one step further.

The top of the geode has been carefully sliced to create a removable lid, while the exterior has been polished to reveal the beautiful natural patterning of the Agate. Soft grey, blue-grey and cream banding follows the shape of the original cavity, creating layer upon layer around the crystal-filled centre.

Inside, the geode opens into an incredibly sparkly bed of pale Quartz crystals. These crystals developed as silica-rich mineralising fluids moved through the original cavity, gradually depositing layers of chalcedony and Agate along the walls before crystalline Quartz grew inward into the remaining open space. This layered progression from Agate into Quartz is characteristic of many Brazilian geodes.

But there is one feature we particularly love about this piece.

Growing from within the cavity is a larger, beautifully defined Quartz point, almost like a tiny natural generator rising above the surrounding druzy. Rather than the entire interior being made up of smaller crystals, this one Quartz crystal was given the space and conditions to develop into a more prominent individual point. It is a gorgeous little detail that you only discover once the lid is removed.

Metaphysically, Agate is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and balance, while Clear Quartz is connected with clarity, amplification and intention. Together they make a beautiful pairing, with the protective outer layers of Agate surrounding a sparkling Quartz centre.

From Brazil, this is a wonderful example of why we love geodes so much. The polished exterior gives you hints of what formed within, but you have to lift the lid to discover the best part. And that little Quartz point tucked inside makes this one particularly special. 🤍✨

Then there are crystals that have a delicate structure like Scolecite with their acicular fine needles shooting out from their matrix. Such delicate specimens and when you think about first the care within the handling that’s gone into first mining them, to then shipping them all around the world, my hat goes off to them.

Here are a few things to consider and even research when looking at collectible crystals for yourself -

✨ The size of a certain crystal can be a factor as to whether it’s considered a collectible piece and can vary depending on the crystal type.

✨ larger pieces have been around for a lot longer so to find a larger piece in a specific crystal can be an amazing investment. While smaller crystals depending on the stone itself might be of the rarer variety or the quality is outstanding, therefore it’s amazing it was even found.

✨ If it is a fragile and delicate crystal and has not sustained any damage or minor damage.

✨ Quality of course comes into it as you can have some amazing fluorite and then you have some beautiful gem like Fluorite which is quite rare, especially Blue Fluorite

✨ Specific crystals formed and still on their matrix opposed to polished and carved pieces etc of the same crystal. This can be the game changer between an incredible piece and a collectible piece.

In the end it comes down to what you are drawn too and what is drawn to you. The bonus is when you buy a collectible crystal it becomes a physical investment and will only grow in value in the years to come.
