This Brazilian Agate geode has been beautifully polished and shaped while preserving the crystal-filled cavity hidden within. The top has been sliced to form a fitted lid, allowing the piece to be enjoyed closed as a polished natural form or opened to reveal an entirely different world inside.

Across the exterior, soft grey and lavender Agate is contrasted by earthy cream, golden and brown markings from the original host material. Rather than removing every trace of its natural exterior, the polishing has retained these wonderfully organic patterns, giving the piece plenty of character.

Lift the lid and the centre opens into a deep cavity completely lined with sparkling Quartz crystals. Around the opening, you can clearly see the transition from the smooth bands of Agate into the crystalline Quartz growing towards the centre.

Geodes such as this began as cavities within ancient volcanic rock. Over immense periods of time, silica-rich mineralising fluids entered these spaces and deposited successive layers along the cavity walls. Microcrystalline Quartz formed the Agate and chalcedony banding first, followed by larger Quartz crystals growing inward where open space remained. This progression from Agate to crystalline Quartz is characteristic of the remarkable geodes for which southern Brazil is known.

The removable lid makes this piece particularly appealing because it allows the original relationship between the outer Agate and hidden crystal cavity to remain beautifully visible. Closed, there is very little indication of just how sparkly the interior actually is.

Metaphysically, Agate is traditionally associated with grounding, stability and balance, while Clear Quartz is connected with clarity, amplification and intention. Together, they make a lovely combination of steady, grounding energy surrounding a bright crystalline centre.

A beautiful Brazilian geode with two completely different personalities, and definitely one that deserves to be opened. 🤍✨

Then there are crystals that have a delicate structure like Scolecite with their acicular fine needles shooting out from their matrix. Such delicate specimens and when you think about first the care within the handling that’s gone into first mining them, to then shipping them all around the world, my hat goes off to them.

Here are a few things to consider and even research when looking at collectible crystals for yourself -

✨ The size of a certain crystal can be a factor as to whether it’s considered a collectible piece and can vary depending on the crystal type.

✨ larger pieces have been around for a lot longer so to find a larger piece in a specific crystal can be an amazing investment. While smaller crystals depending on the stone itself might be of the rarer variety or the quality is outstanding, therefore it’s amazing it was even found.

✨ If it is a fragile and delicate crystal and has not sustained any damage or minor damage.

✨ Quality of course comes into it as you can have some amazing fluorite and then you have some beautiful gem like Fluorite which is quite rare, especially Blue Fluorite

✨ Specific crystals formed and still on their matrix opposed to polished and carved pieces etc of the same crystal. This can be the game changer between an incredible piece and a collectible piece.

In the end it comes down to what you are drawn too and what is drawn to you. The bonus is when you buy a collectible crystal it becomes a physical investment and will only grow in value in the years to come.
