🔮 Agate: The Tapestry Stone of Universal Harmony

🤍 All Chakras

These Hubei Agate Money Toads immediately caught our attention in China because they are such a different interpretation of one of our favourite traditional Chinese prosperity symbols.

Rather than being highly polished and perfectly uniform, these carvings retain much of the natural character of the Hubei Agate. The earthy red, rust, brown, grey and translucent areas remain visible throughout, with natural orbicular formations, markings and variations becoming part of the finished carving.

The style itself is fantastic. The Money Toad has been given a wonderfully rounded form with a broad face, prominent raised eyes and carefully carved details across the head and body. There is something almost ancient-looking about them, particularly with the natural surface and deeper red colouring of the Agate.

Hubei Agate comes from Hubei Province in China and is particularly sought after for its extraordinary natural patterns. Depending on the material, it can display orbicular formations, concentric “eyes”, contrasting layers and areas of translucency. Rather than trying to disguise those natural features, these carvings allow them to remain part of the character of each individual toad.

The Money Toad, commonly known as the Three-Legged Money Frog or Jin Chan (金蟾), is one of the best-known prosperity symbols in Chinese culture and Feng Shui. Traditionally associated with attracting wealth, opportunity and good fortune, it is frequently placed within homes and businesses as a symbol of prosperity and financial success.

There is also a wonderful old legend associated with Jin Chan and the Daoist immortal Liu Hai. In variations of the story, Liu Hai uses strings of coins to lure or tame the magical three-legged toad, helping establish the creature's enduring association with wealth and abundance.

Metaphysically, Agate is traditionally connected with grounding, stability, balance and protection. Paired with the symbolism of Jin Chan, these pieces bring together the grounded nature of Agate with one of China's most recognisable symbols of prosperity.

We absolutely loved this new carving style when we found them. Each one has its own natural markings and expression, and I think the slightly rugged Hubei Agate suits the old Money Toad symbolism beautifully. 🐸🪙

🐸 Money Toad Intention

The Money Toad portrayed as a bullfrog with three legs are symbolic creatures in Chinese Culture associated with prosperity and abundance, both financially and spiritually within.

This gorgeous Money Toad is believed to attract good fortune and financial abundance, and to protect against misfortune of the home or business where it is placed

According to Feng Shui principles placing a money toad in your home or business is thought to invite prosperity and abundance into your life and your environment. It is recommended to place the toad in the wealth corner of a home or business typically the southeast, or near the entrance, facing inward to symbolise wealth flowing into the space.

We personally have placed ours within the entrance of our home as an invitation of positivity and abundance in all forms within our home and within ourselves.

Not only are they a cute little welcoming crystal addition into our homes but they also serve a physical purpose as most times when we arrive home we give the toad a little rub on its back intention to amplify abundance with our lives and home on every level.
