Ancient, carbon-rich and unlike almost anything else in the mineral world, Shungite is a fascinating natural material estimated to have formed around two billion years ago. Found primarily in the Karelia region of Russia, particularly around Lake Onega, its unusual composition and extraordinary age have made it the subject of both scientific research and metaphysical interest.

Shungite is composed largely of carbon, along with varying amounts of silicate minerals and other naturally occurring elements. My Rainbow Obsidian Mini Spheres looks fantastic. I was drawn to the way it looked a different colour depending on what light or angle you were looking at it with. I lost my dad two years ago and have been struggling with his loss and my grief.
