🔮 Auralite 23: The Synergy of Cosmic Awakening

🤍 All Chakras

This is the final piece from one of the smallest, yet most memorable, stalls we discovered during our buying trip through China.

There wasn't an enormous display. There weren't hundreds of pieces to sort through. Instead, this particular vendor had a small collection of unusual material and carvings that immediately made Niome and I stop.

From that one little stall came our Tanzanian Rainbow Sunstone and Black Moonstone Dragon Turtle, our incredibly flashy Blue Moonstone Dragon Turtle, and finally, this Auralite 23 Pixiu carved from material originating in Canada.

Three completely different pieces, and somehow all three came home with us. 😂

What first caught our attention with this Pixiu was the stone itself. The carving moves through rich reddish brown, burgundy, smoky purple and golden translucent areas, with the changing natural colour of the material becoming part of the character of the carving.

Hold it towards a stronger light and another side of the piece appears. Sections become beautifully translucent, revealing flashes of violet, plum, warm amber and golden yellow from within. Rather than being one uniform colour, the piece changes considerably depending on the direction of the light.

The carving has also been worked around those natural variations rather beautifully. The Pixiu's expressive face, curled detailing and rounded body remain highly polished, while the back carries a more restrained engraved design that allows the colour zoning and internal structure of the material to remain visible.

Auralite 23 is a trade name associated with distinctive mineralised Amethyst material from the Thunder Bay region of Ontario, Canada. It is often recognised by its combination of purple Quartz with reddish iron-rich areas and other mineral inclusions.

The “23” in Auralite 23 comes from claims that as many as 23 different minerals may occur within the material. We prefer to be a little careful with that statement, as not every individual piece will contain all 23 minerals. What can certainly make the material interesting, however, is its complex mineralisation, colour zoning and inclusion-rich Quartz.

Then there is the Pixiu itself.

Pixiu (貔貅) is one of the best-known auspicious creatures within Chinese tradition. Often depicted as a powerful hybrid creature with dragon-like features, it has long been associated with attracting and guarding wealth, protection and good fortune.

One of the most famous legends surrounding Pixiu tells that it has an enormous appetite for gold, silver and riches but no means of expelling them. This is why Pixiu became such a popular Feng Shui symbol for drawing prosperity inward and, perhaps even more importantly, keeping it there.

Metaphysically, Auralite 23 has developed a strong following among crystal collectors and spiritual practitioners and is traditionally associated with spiritual awareness, intuition, energetic alignment and deeper meditation. Its predominantly Quartz composition also connects it with the broader metaphysical traditions surrounding Amethyst and Quartz.

For us, however, there is another reason this little Pixiu is special.

It completes a group of three carvings that came from one tiny stall we could very easily have walked straight past.

Instead, it became one of those wonderful reminders from China that the size of the vendor's display tells you absolutely nothing about what you might find sitting on it.

Sometimes the little stalls are dangerous. 😂💜✨

🐉 Pixiu: A Symbol of Protection and Prosperity

Pixiu has long been associated with wealth, protection and guarding prosperity within Chinese tradition. Often connected with attracting supportive opportunities while protecting what has already been built, Pixiu is believed to encourage stability, confidence and forward momentum. Many people are drawn to Pixiu carvings during periods focused on business growth, financial goals or creating stronger foundations within life and work.
