Dragon Bloodstone, often referred to as Dragon Blood Jasper in the trade, is a quartz based stone composed primarily of green epidote with deep red inclusions of piemontite. The green provides the dominant body colour, while the red forms as scattered patches and veins created during mineral growth under pressure.

The colour contrast is entirely natural. The red is not surface staining. It is mineral inclusion within the stone itself. This interplay between green and red creates immediate visual structure, which works exceptionally well in sculptural form.

With a hardness typically around 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, Dragon Bloodstone is durable and suitable for detailed carving. The polish enhances the clarity between colour zones without flattening the stone’s texture. Light moves cleanly across the surface, highlighting both the density of the green and the depth of the red inclusions.
