🔮 Collectable amongst Fossil lovers

Approximately 100 million years old | Cretaceous Period

There is something particularly fascinating about a fossil that has continued its geological story long after the original animal was gone.

Known within the mineral and fossil trade as Spiralite Shells, these beautiful specimens preserve the recognisable coiled form of an ancient gastropod while also displaying natural Chalcedony and sparkling Druzy Quartz mineralisation.

Originating from Betul in central India and dating to the Cretaceous Period, approximately 100 million years ago, these shells began their story as marine gastropods living within an ancient environment very different from the India we know today.

After burial, the original shell underwent fossilisation and mineral replacement over an immense period of geological time. Silica-rich fluids moved through the surrounding material, allowing Chalcedony to develop through sections of the fossil while tiny Quartz crystals grew within remaining cavities.

The result is rather beautiful.

The unmistakable spiral of the original shell remains, but within it are sparkling pockets of Druzy Quartz, creating miniature crystal-lined cavities where the living animal once existed.

Sections have been carefully polished to reveal the internal spiral and mineralisation, while areas of natural texture and crystallisation have been retained. The contrast between smooth Chalcedony, ancient fossil structure and tiny Quartz crystals is what makes these such interesting crossover pieces for both fossil and mineral collectors.

The reverse has been cut flat, allowing the specimen to stand securely for display and making it easy to appreciate both the spiral form and crystal growth.

Metaphysically, fossils are traditionally associated with grounding, ancient wisdom and connection to Earth's history. Chalcedony is linked with balance and communication, while Quartz is associated with clarity and amplification.

But even without the metaphysical side, the geological story is pretty incredible.

A marine creature lived around 100 million years ago. Its shell was buried, fossilised and gradually mineralised, and today that same spiral survives with tiny Quartz crystals growing within it.

Nature certainly knows how to play the long game. 😂🐚✨

✨ Collectors Piece

🌠✨ Unique & Collectible ✨🌠

For Collectors of rare and unique crystals and for anyone that likes beautiful pieces around the home to add to the beauty and energy of your space.

Niome and I have been delving deeper and deeper into this part of our business for our own pleasure and collection but also for you to add to yours.

We spend countless hours developing relationships and connections with all our suppliers who are aligned with our love for all things crystal and through this process we have been able to acquire some amazing, beautiful pieces.

For us, collectible crystals are not an outlay but rather an investment. Whether the investment is for staging and uplevelling your homes energy, your energy and your homes décor or you see the value within a piece itself.

A piece that you may see today for a certain price may be a completely different price in 5-10 years’ time as everything comes to an end at some point, even certain varieties of crystals. This has been said to both Niome and myself from various friends within the industry and we have taken note.

Then there are crystals that have a delicate structure like Scolecite with their acicular fine needles shooting out from their matrix. Such delicate specimens and when you think about first the care within the handling that’s gone into first mining them, to then shipping them all around the world, my hat goes off to them.

The pieces we have in stock are pieces that truly have been cared for through all the processes it took for them to reach us.

Here are a few things to consider and even research when looking at collectible crystals for yourself -

The size of a certain crystal can be a factor as to whether it’s considered a collectible piece and can vary depending on the crystal type.

larger pieces have been around for a lot longer so to find a larger piece in a specific crystal can be an amazing investment. While smaller crystals depending on the stone itself might be of the rarer variety or the quality is outstanding, therefore it’s amazing it was even found.

If it is a fragile and delicate crystal and has not sustained any damage or minor damage.

Quality of course comes into it as you can have some amazing fluorite and then you have some beautiful gem like Fluorite which is quite rare, especially Blue Fluorite

Specific crystals formed and still on their matrix opposed to polished and carved pieces etc of the same crystal. This can be the game changer between an incredible piece and a collectible piece.

In the end it comes down to what you are drawn too and what is drawn to you. The bonus is when you buy a collectible crystal it becomes a physical investment and will only grow in value in the years to come.

What will your next investment be?
