🔮 Agate: The Tapestry Stone of Universal Harmony

🤍 All Chakras

This Hubei Agate Money Toad is another wonderful example of the unusual new carving style we discovered in China, but this piece has a completely different character from the deeper red example.

Its natural colouring moves through mustard yellow, golden ochre, warm orange, peach and earthy brown, with subtle variations and orbicular formations appearing throughout the stone. Rather than polishing away the natural character of the Agate, the carver has worked with its existing patterns and markings, allowing them to become part of the finished Money Toad.

One of our favourite details is the face. The large raised eyes have been carefully carved while natural circular formations appear around the head and body, almost as though the stone had already started designing the toad before the carver got involved. The broad mouth, rounded cheeks and textured skin give it a wonderfully expressive appearance.

Hubei Agate comes from Hubei Province in China and is known for the unusual patterns that can occur within the material, including concentric eyes, orbicular formations, contrasting layers and natural variations in colour. Every piece develops differently, which makes this style of carving particularly interesting because so much of the original stone remains visible.

The Money Toad, or Jin Chan (金蟾), is a traditional Chinese symbol associated with prosperity, wealth and good fortune. Often depicted as a three-legged toad, Jin Chan has been used in Feng Shui for generations as a symbol for attracting financial opportunity while encouraging the accumulation and protection of wealth.

There is also a famous connection between Jin Chan and the Daoist immortal Liu Hai. In traditional stories, Liu Hai is often depicted with the three-legged toad and strings of coins, further establishing Jin Chan's enduring association with prosperity.

Metaphysically, Agate is traditionally associated with grounding, stability, balance and protection. Combined with the symbolism of the Money Toad, this piece carries a lovely theme of grounded prosperity and steady abundance.

We loved these as soon as we saw them. They are recognisably Money Toads, but the more natural, earthy carving style gives each one its own expression and allows the Hubei Agate itself to remain an important part of the piece. 🐸🪙

🐸 Money Toad Intention

The Money Toad portrayed as a bullfrog with three legs are symbolic creatures in Chinese Culture associated with prosperity and abundance, both financially and spiritually within.

This gorgeous Money Toad is believed to attract good fortune and financial abundance, and to protect against misfortune of the home or business where it is placed

According to Feng Shui principles placing a money toad in your home or business is thought to invite prosperity and abundance into your life and your environment. It is recommended to place the toad in the wealth corner of a home or business typically the southeast, or near the entrance, facing inward to symbolise wealth flowing into the space.

We personally have placed ours within the entrance of our home as an invitation of positivity and abundance in all forms within our home and within ourselves.

Not only are they a cute little welcoming crystal addition into our homes but they also serve a physical purpose as most times when we arrive home we give the toad a little rub on its back intention to amplify abundance with our lives and home on every level.
