🔮 Agate: The Tapestry Stone of Universal Harmony

🤍 All Chakras

Our final Hubei Agate teapot from this extraordinary little collection, and once again, the natural stone has given the carving an entirely different personality.

This is another of the double teapots from the same vendor we spent so much time with in China. Two individual teapots have been carved to sit together, with the smaller teapot fitting neatly into the opening of the larger one below. Remove the upper teapot and the opening of the lower teapot is revealed, while the smaller teapot has its own removable lid finished with a little carved bird. 🐦🫖

What immediately stands out in this piece is the incredible contrast within the Agate. The body of the lower teapot is predominantly smoky grey and translucent brown, while rich burnt orange, rust and reddish sections have been deliberately incorporated into the flowers, branches and other carved details.

The sunlight really changes this piece. Some areas that initially appear dark and smoky suddenly become beautifully translucent, revealing warm amber and reddish tones beneath the surface.

The lower teapot has a wonderfully rounded form, decorated with flowers and flowing botanical details. Even the handle becomes part of the design rather than simply being functional. The smaller teapot above continues the same palette, with deeper reddish Agate, carved botanical details and areas of beautiful translucency.

And then there is that tiny bird sitting proudly on top.

It is such a small detail compared with the rest of the carving, but somehow it finishes the entire piece. The combination of teapots, flowers and bird gives it the feeling of a little garden scene rather than simply a carved vessel.

Agate is a variety of chalcedony, composed primarily of silica, and is particularly loved for the natural banding, translucency, inclusions and colour variation that can develop within the material. In a carving like this, those natural changes become part of the artwork, giving the carver different colours and levels of transparency to work with within a single piece of stone.

In Chinese culture, tea is closely connected with hospitality, friendship, family and time shared together, while birds and flowers have long appeared throughout Chinese decorative arts with associations of nature, harmony, beauty and renewal.

This entire group has been one of those purchases that reminded us why sometimes you have to stop asking whether something fits neatly into what you normally buy.

We went to China to buy crystals.

Apparently we came home as collectors of Agate teapots. 🤣🫖

✨ Shape Meaning

🌠✨ Unique & Collectible ✨🌠

For Collectors of rare and unique crystals and for anyone that likes beautiful pieces around the home to add to the beauty and energy of your space.

Niome and I have been delving deeper and deeper into this part of our business for our own pleasure and collection but also for you to add to yours.

We spend countless hours developing relationships and connections with all our suppliers who are aligned with our love for all things crystal and through this process we have been able to acquire some amazing, beautiful pieces.

For us, collectible crystals are not an outlay but rather an investment. Whether the investment is for staging and uplevelling your homes energy, your energy and your homes décor or you see the value within a piece itself.

A piece that you may see today for a certain price may be a completely different price in 5-10 years’ time as everything comes to an end at some point, even certain varieties of crystals. This has been said to both Niome and myself from various friends within the industry and we have taken note.

Then there are crystals that have a delicate structure like Scolecite with their acicular fine needles shooting out from their matrix. Such delicate specimens and when you think about first the care within the handling that’s gone into first mining them, to then shipping them all around the world, my hat goes off to them.

The pieces we have in stock are pieces that truly have been cared for through all the processes it took for them to reach us.

Here are a few things to consider and even research when looking at collectible crystals for yourself -

The size of a certain crystal can be a factor as to whether it’s considered a collectible piece and can vary depending on the crystal type.

larger pieces have been around for a lot longer so to find a larger piece in a specific crystal can be an amazing investment. While smaller crystals depending on the stone itself might be of the rarer variety or the quality is outstanding, therefore it’s amazing it was even found.

If it is a fragile and delicate crystal and has not sustained any damage or minor damage.

Quality of course comes into it as you can have some amazing fluorite and then you have some beautiful gem like Fluorite which is quite rare, especially Blue Fluorite

Specific crystals formed and still on their matrix opposed to polished and carved pieces etc of the same crystal. This can be the game changer between an incredible piece and a collectible piece.

In the end it comes down to what you are drawn too and what is drawn to you. The bonus is when you buy a collectible crystal it becomes a physical investment and will only grow in value in the years to come.

What will your next investment be?
