🔮 Ocean Jasper: The Rhythm of the Tides

Another of our first-pick shark carvings from China, this time in the unmistakable form of a Hammerhead Shark.

Niome and I were lucky enough to have first choice from this collection, allowing us to look through the carvings individually and choose the sharks where both the stone and carving caught our attention. With this one, it was the combination of the Hammerhead shape and the natural patterning of the Ocean Jasper that won us over.

The carving captures that incredible broad, flattened head that makes Hammerheads one of the most instantly recognisable sharks in the ocean. A prominent dorsal fin, sweeping body and sculpted tail complete the form, while the polished finish brings the natural detail of the stone to the surface.

This piece has a completely different Ocean Jasper pattern from our other sharks. Deep forest and mossy greens run through the body alongside earthy brown, cream and softly contrasting areas, with scattered natural markings creating an almost mottled, underwater appearance.

Ocean Jasper is a patterned variety of Chalcedony from Madagascar, known for the enormous variation that can occur from one piece to another. It is exactly that individuality that made selecting these carvings in person so much fun.

For a shark lover, particularly someone with a soft spot for Hammerheads, this is such a cool display piece. The shape is unmistakable, the carving has plenty of character, and the natural Ocean Jasper ensures there will never be another one quite like it.

Spiritually, the shark symbolises instinct, resilience, confidence and forward momentum. 🦈

As a creature constantly attuned to its surroundings, the shark represents trusting your intuition, recognising opportunities and moving through life with purpose rather than hesitation. Its ancient survival also makes it a powerful symbol of adaptability, endurance and having the courage to navigate changing waters.

In essence: trust your instincts, know your strength and keep moving forward.
