These beautiful butterfly wings have been carved from Rainbow Fluorite and displayed on a black metal stand, allowing the natural colour and banding of the stone to become an integral part of the butterfly itself.

Across the wings are wonderful layers of purple, aqua, green, soft blue and creamy yellow, arranged in sweeping bands that move through the Fluorite. Because the wings have been cut relatively thin, light can pass through the stone and reveal even more of the internal zoning, creating a particularly beautiful effect when displayed near natural light.

Fine carved lines define the sections of each wing, with small circular details following the outer edges. The wings are held around a central metal butterfly body, creating a complete display while still keeping the Fluorite as the main feature.

Rainbow Fluorite is a colourful variety of the mineral Fluorite, calcium fluoride. Its distinctive bands develop through changes in chemistry and conditions as successive layers of Fluorite grow. Different trace elements, structural defects and natural irradiation can contribute to the greens, blues, purples and other colours found within the crystal.

The butterfly carries beautiful symbolism across many cultures and traditions, most commonly representing transformation, change, renewal and personal growth.
