Shungite is an extremely old carbon-rich material, estimated to have formed around two billion years ago and found primarily in the Karelia region of Russia, particularly around Lake Onega. Its unusual composition has attracted both scientific interest and a strong following within the metaphysical community.

One of the most fascinating discoveries associated with Shungite has been the presence of fullerene-like carbon structures. Fullerenes are unusual arrangements of carbon atoms that can form hollow cage-like structures, with the best-known example resembling the geometric pattern of a soccer ball.
