🔮 Silver Sheen Obsidian: The Shining Mandala of Inner Alchemy
❤️ Root Chakra
These beautiful sleeping cats were individually hand selected by us for the quality of their silver sheen, with each one chosen to display a strong flash as the carving is moved through the light.
Carved in a peaceful curled sleeping position, each little cat has its head tucked towards its body with softly carved facial features and a smooth polished finish. The rounded form works particularly well with Silver Sheen Obsidian, allowing the light to travel across the curves and reveal sweeping areas of silver beneath the darker surface.
Silver Sheen Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich lava cools rapidly, without sufficient time for a conventional crystalline structure to develop. Its distinctive sheen is created by microscopic structures within the Obsidian that interact with light. Depending on the angle, a carving that initially appears almost black can suddenly reveal broad silver-grey reflections moving across its surface.
Cats have carried rich symbolism across cultures for thousands of years and are commonly associated with independence, intuition, awareness and protection. The curled sleeping position brings a softer quality to the carving, representing rest, comfort and the feeling of being completely safe within your surroundings.
Within crystal traditions, Obsidian is strongly associated with grounding and protection. Silver Sheen Obsidian is also traditionally connected with self-reflection, clarity and looking beneath the surface, particularly fitting for a stone whose character changes so dramatically when it catches the light.
As these are carved from natural Silver Sheen Obsidian, the position, pattern and intensity of the sheen will vary from one cat to another. We spent time hand selecting these in person, choosing only the cats that showed a beautiful silver flash.
Small enough to sit easily amongst a crystal display, shelf or collection, these sleeping cats are a lovely way to enjoy Silver Sheen Obsidian in a carving where the curved body really shows off the stone. Each one has its own pattern of silver movement, so the cat you choose will be completely individual.
